Weekly Aquatics Activities

Lap Swim is for those adults who swim at an intermediate level or above. Lap swim runs on Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 PM,Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 AM. Rates: $4/child/student, $6/adults, $15/family. 10-Punch cards can be purchased at the pool. $32/child/student, $48/adults, $42/seniors (62+), $120/families.Please note this schedule is subject to change due to attendance.

Open Swim is open mid-fall to late spring for public swimming. Open swim runs on Sundays, 2:00-4:00 pm. November 5-May 13, 2018. (None 12/24, 12/31 & 4/1). Rates: $4/child/student, $6/adults, $15/family. 10-Punch cards can be purchased at the pool. $32/child/student, $48/adults, $42/seniors (62+), $120/families. 
Groups with more than 10 people are encouraged to call us to make reservations. 

Pool Schedule: The pool calendar is subject to change due to holidays, events, low enrollment, etc. Please refer to the current monthly pool calendars at the pool or the monthly calendar posted to the right.

Swimming Lessons are offered many times throughout the year. For current available classes please view our online catalog. View a listing of swim lesson course level descriptions to help you decide what level is appropriate for each student.

Water Safety Instructor Class, Ages 16+
The Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Class (WSI) will certify you to teach all levels of Red Cross Swimming lessons to children,
adults and individuals with special needs. This 30 hour course will consist of both pool and classroom time. Through video and
hands-on skill building, in and out of the water, the Water Safety Instructor course is designed to train instructors to use a variety of
teaching strategies, including: class management techniques, lesson planning and execution, observation and assessment, and new
tools to be a great instructor. Coursework must be downloaded and viewable on a technology device, brought to class. Participants
must be 16 years of age by the final day of the course. A preliminary swimming skills pretest will follow the informational meeting
where course details are explained and dates are set. Please bring suit, goggles and towel. Minimum 8 students required.

Course Dates: End of December-January
Exact course dates and times will be determined at this meeting. Please bring your up-to-date calendars and your current
email address. Flexibility will be required to make this schedule work.
Course Location: DCHS Pool and DCMS Room B6
Fee: To be determined based on number of students enrolled. (Anticipated cost $200-250)
Course agreement and downpayment of $125 is due by the information meeting on December 18.

Lifeguard Training, Ages 15+
    The purpose of this class is to teach students the skills and
knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic
emergencies. Through videos, group discussion and handson
practice, you’ll learn teamwork and the skills you will
need to work as a professional lifeguard. Included in the class
are: rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED
training and Blood Borne Pathogen Training.
    Students must be 15 years of age and must pass a water
skills pretest. There can be no exceptions to the 15-year old age
requirement. The water skills pretest includes the following:
1. Swim continuously for 500 yards using the front crawl and
the breast stroke.
2. Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 10 feet, retrieve
a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards
back to the starting point.
    The course is run as a “blended learning” opportunity. The
blended learning format allows participants to complete a
portion of the course independently, online, cutting down on
in-person meeting time! Participants will spend 7-8 hours
doing online course content with an additional 25 hours
being at the pool and in the classroom. Attendance is
mandatory for all class sessions. The students will learn the
value of being a professional lifeguard and upon completion
of the course, receive a two-year certification in
Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED, and Blood Borne
Pathogen Training. Minimum 8 students required.

Lifeguard Training Recertification
(Must hold a CURRENT Lifeguard Training certificate)
    To be eligible for Lifeguard Training recertification,
students must hold a current Lifeguard Training certificate
and must pass a water skills pretest. The water skills pretest
includes the following:
1. Swim continuously for 500 yards using the front crawl and
the breast stroke.
2. Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 10 feet, retrieve
a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards
back to the starting point.
    The purpose of a recertification course is to give
individuals the opportunity to review the course content and
take all necessary tests to update their LGT certificate for
another 2 years. Participants will meet with the instructor to
do the water skills pretest, review content and skills, and then
do all of the water skills, CPR/AED skills, and written tests
required for recertification. The course will take 14-16 hours.
Minimum 8 students required.

Renting of Pool Facilities

Renting the High School Pool: Please contact Patti Kampa at 320-286-4100 x1813 or e-mail for more information and available pool times. 3 weeks noticed is preferred for renting the pool so lifeguards can be secured. If submitting request by mail please fill out our request form.

What is the cost of renting the pool?

1. All reservations will be charged a $10 permit fee.
2. Rent for the High School pool is as follows:
Non-profit groups/individuals located in ISD #466= $10/hr
Commercial, business organizations/individuals conducting activities for profit= $15/hr
Non-profit groups located outside of ISD #466= $30/hr
Commercial, business organizations/individuals located outside of ISD #466= $50/hr

3. Lifeguards are required when using the High School swimming pool. The fees for guards are $45/hour for the first hour, $30/hour for each additional hour. Fees include two lifeguards. Groups over 50 require an additional guards at $25/hour each.

For example, if you are a non-profit group or individual located within ISD #466 with 50 people or less swimming in the pool the rates are as follows. 1 hour= $65, 1.5 hours= $85, 2 hours= $105.
